14.2.2010 - Janne Tuohino second fastest in Super2000 series opening round in Sweden - JanPro Rally Team leads Teams' Cup
Besides Flying Ford Finns Mikko Hirvonen and Jari-Matti Latvala another Flying Finn Janne Tuohino, 34, brought success for Ford and for Finland in WRC Sweden. Janne with his co-driver Markku Tuohino drove strong performance and gave excellent show of his talents with brand new Ford Fiesta S2000 in fast-paced Swedish rally stages. Second highest podium position brought 18 highly valuable Super2000 Championship points for Tuohino and full points for his JanPro Rally Team in Teams' Cup.
- We had a very good rally week. My new car worked like a clock and for whole weekend me and my team learn new things about it and its' behaviour on stage. On Friday I got used to the car and when the setup was perfect an agressive drive on Saturday and on Sunday gave excellent special stage times and results, Tuohino tells.
- On Sundays' stages we still tried to push to reach Andersson, but after hitting snow banks few times we decided to ease up and take the second highest Championship points for us. I'm very satisfied for the result and Championship standings in Super2000 and in Teams' Cup. I have to be satisfied when reminding that I got this car from M-Sport just two weeks before Rally Sweden and was able to have just few days of testing for it, Tuohino continues.
Test, test and test before WRC Rally Jordania
Next event for Tuohino is Rally Jordania, which is to be driven in first weekend of April. Highly experienced Tuohino promises to be prepared for the event so that he and JanPro rally team continues to lead the series after hot desert event is ran.
- I'm not 100% satisfied for my speed which I showed in WRC Sweden but I will guarantee that its' going to step up after we've setup the car and rule out my driving mistakes on the stage, Tuohino tells.
- Now we face service and then we head towards Jordania. We're planning to have few test days in Europe so that we could have more experience on gravel before entering Jordania, Tuohino continues.
Swedish Per-Gunnar Andersson was fastest Super2000 car in Sweden and therefore he leads the Super2000 Championship series. However he's not driving for Teams' Cup points and therefore Finnish JanPro Rally Team is leading the series. Second round for the series is to be driven in first weekend of March in
Mexico. However Tuohino is not entering the event because he didn't choose it for his rally calendar.
